Top 100 Most Anticipated American Indie Films of 2018: #47. Marianna Palka’s Egg

Date:

Egg

While you were sleeping, Marianna Palka was busy creating. We’ll never be able to forget the transparency of the shared experience that is Lucy Walker’s The Lion’s Mouth Opens (the definition of selflessness). This summer we saw the Scottish born, New York actress on Television’s GLOW, but it’s her indie filmmaking work that sets her apart. She added a fifth film to her filmography (2008’s Good Dick, 2014’s I’m the Same, 2015’s Always Worthy and 2016’s Bitch) with a shot in NYC Egg during the summer.

Spotful & IONCINEMA.com

Written by Risa Mickenberg, this stars Alysia Reiner, Christina Hendricks, Anna Camp, David Alan Basche and Gbenga Akinnagbe. Reiner will play a conceptual artist while Akinnagbe will play her passive-aggressive feminist husband presenting a radical alternative to motherhood. Hendricks will portray her pregnant art school rival with Basche playing her money-hungry spouse. Camp will portray a surrogate for Reiner’s character.

Release Date/Prediction: This looks to be headed at either SXSW or Tribeca.
