Top 150 Most Anticipated Foreign Films of 2020: #110. Février – Kamen Kalev

Date:

Février

Bulgaria’s Kamen Kalev ends a five year hiatus with his fourth feature, Février, produced by Celine Chapdaniel and Diane Jassem, with Dimitar Radoinov one of the few cast names announced. Ivan Chertov (who was a still photographer on Kalev’s 2011 feature The Island) will make his debut as cinematographer on his first feature. Kalev’s 2009 debut Eastern Plays and his 2011 sophomore film The Island played Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes. His last feature was 2015’s Face Down, starring Melvil Poupaud.

MUBI World Cinema

Gist: Kalev wrote his latest, which focuses on the life of a man at the ages of eight, eighteen and eighty-two.

Release Date/Prediction: Kalev partially filmed in February before he completed principal photography in August of 2019 – the screen grab above could be part of the backdrop. We predict Kalev could bow in Berlin 2020 (or potentially return to Cannes).
