Double Identity: Scott Teems’ ‘The Quarry’ Books Michael Shannon & Shea Whigham

Date:

Described as shades of Steinbeck and Faulkner, That Evening Sun helmer Scott Teems will see Michael Shannon and Shea Whigham reteam on his sophomore feature, The Quarry. A book to film adaptation of Damon Galgut’s novel (not a remake of the 1998 film of the same name), Deadline reports that production began in New Orleans with vet producer Laura D. Smith and Kristin Mann (To the Stars) producing in partnership with Rockhill Studios, Metalwork Pictures and Gold Star Films. Nor’easter helmer Andrew Brotzman wrote the screenplay.

Gist: This follows Whigham (The Man) who is on the run from his own sins, and finds himself in a small border town in Texas, impersonating a reverend. The town are quickly drawn to the man’s unorthodox sermons, but so is police Chief Moore (Shannon) who has his suspicions.
