2022 Cannes: Léonor Serraille, Maryam Touzani & Emily Atef Among 17 Items Added to the Line-Up

And so we might not find out anytime soon what the deal with David Lynch was, but we now know that the final tally for the Palme d’Or selections comes to a total of 21. Felix Van Groeningen teamed with partner Charlotte Vandermeersch for The Eight Mountains and promises to give us plenty of eye candy scenery. Léonor Serraille makes the incredible leap from winning the Camera d’Or with her first film and is now competing with Un petit frère. Albert Serra‘s Bora Bora (unsure if that is the actual title) stars Benoît Magimel and Sergi López and is the other title to be added. This is the first competition trip for the four filmmakers.

The Un Certain Regard section (as we indicted yesterday) will indeed find the latest films from Emily Atef and Maryam Touzani. Joining them is Maha Haj with a return visit to the section – she was there in 2016 with Personal Affairs and will return with Mediterranean Fever. Last but not least, Lotfy Nathan (listed as a first feature in the press release – which does not make sense since he gave us 12 O’Clock Boys) returns with Before the Spring aka Harka. This was filmed in his native Tunisia.

The Cannes Première section added three new titles (all French) that we’ve been speculating on since last year for a section tally of seven. Vet filmmakers Serge Bozon (Don Juan), Dominik Moll (La Nuit du 12), and Emmanuel Mouret’s Chronique d’une liaison passagère. Here are the complete add-ons.
