Except for the pandemic year, we’ve hosted our bi-daily (sometimes tri-daily) Palme d’Or competition Cannes Critics’ Panel since 2011. Over the years, our panel has gained some steadfast members (a few have been with us since the inaugural edition), while we’ve bid farewell to others due to sporadic attendance or missed years. Sadly, we also lost one member permanently. A longstanding Croisette aficionado, Marc-André Lussier from Montreal’s La Presse departed on June 30th — had he been here, he’d have seen all twenty-two films. We was a ninja.
Speaking of Montreal, our proud sponsor this year is my personal favorite purveyor of street grub and the ultimate Palme d’Or of pizza slices in Montreal.
