Zach Braff’s Wishes for a Sundance Spot; Wish I Was Here to Unspoil in Park City

Date:

Toldja! As I had mentioned back in my Sundance predictions set/accurate prediction Zach Braff was a strong contender for a spot in Park City. I wrote, he received unnecessary flack for his Kickstarter campaign, and while Garden State isn’t my cup of kool-aid, the 2004 dramedy which premiered at Sundance and almost instantaneously gained a cult-like following, might clue us in on why a decade later, he received the type of dollar support for a sophomore feature. Braff will be the last one to break into the Sundance 14 line-up – his sophomore film Wish I Was Here receives a premiere category invite and speaking of returning guests, Kevin Smith might not be ready with his latest, but he’ll bring Clerks down for a special From the Collection midnight screening.

Wish I Was Here tells the story of Aidan Bloom, a struggling actor, husband and dad who at 35 is still trying to find his true place in life. He and his wife are barely getting by financially, and Aidan passes his time fantasizing about being the futuristic space knight he always dreamed he’d be as a little kid. When his ailing father can no longer afford to pay for private school for his two kids, and with the only available public school on its last legs, Aidan reluctantly agrees to attempt to home-school them. Kate Hudson, Mandy Patinkin, Josh Gad, Ashley Greene, Joey King co-star with Braff.
