Jean-Francois Richet (the French helmer whose services were called upon form U.S actioneer Assault on Precinct 13 and the shot in Quebec-France Mesrine films) is set (according to Deadline) to get behind the director’s chair for what might be considered quality item of its genre in the recently Black List mentioned (number ten on the poll) Pox Americana. CODE Entertainment’s Al Corley, Bart Rosenblatt and Eugene Musso are producing – we imagine this will nab some A-grade talent down the line for a 2014 shoot. The prod company is also set to begin production on Mission: Blacklist featuring the skillset of one of our favorite Swedish auteurs in Jesper Ganslandt. Pilothouse Pictures’ Erik Jendresen and Jonathan Dana will executive produce.
Gist: Written by Frank John Hughes, set in the Old West, a group of soldiers go on a mission to slaughter a peaceful tribe in retaliation for another tribe’s attack on a white settlement, only to suffer at the hands of a devastating disease.
Worth Noting: Richet broke onto the French move scene with the explosive Ma 6-T va crack-er, while Mesrine was nominated for 10 French Cesar awards
Do We Care?: We’re curious about the strength of the project on paper, and how it revenge relates to the sort of pandemic a la The New World.
