Time for Change: Anna Cazenave Cambet Begins Production on ‘Love Me Tender’ with Vicky Krieps, Reinartz, Chokri & Ji-Min Park

Date:

French filmmaker Anna Cazenave Cambet was setting up shop for her sophomore feature with Vicky Krieps and Antoine Reinartz (Anatomy of a Fall fame) in the early mix. Now we learned that production has began with filmmaker-actress Monia Chokri and Ji-Min Park (lead in Return to Seoul) joining the top billing. Cambet’s Love Me Tender is an adaptation of the 2020 novel by Constance Debré — essentially this is the story of the writer as she loses custody of her son and her concept of love is shaken. the catch here is that the mother who leaves her past behind discovers her homosexuality at the age of 40. The story talks about the price to pay to finally experience this freedom. Production will take place in Paris and in the South West portion of France. Novoprod Cinéma produces.

Cambet’s short film Gabber Lover was selected for the Critics’ Week section in 2016 (was also a Queer Palme winner), and her debut feature De l’or pour les chiens was an Angoulême and BFI Film Festival selection in 2020. The drama moves into production shortly – so we imagine this might be ready as early as Cannes or Locarno next year.
