As speculation grows wild into what films will populate the upcoming Cannes Film Festival, today we are looking ahead at a possible big ticket item that might drop on the Croisette in the following year. Trois couleurs confirms that production on Arthur Harari‘s highly anticipated third feature has began shooting in Paris and will continue into the West part of France. The co-writer on his wife’s Anatomy of a Fall lassoed Léa Seydoux back in May last year for what is known as L’inconnue (The Unknown) but we are just beginning to learn about the provenance of the project — it’s actually based on the graphic novel he co-wrote with his brother titled Le cas David Zimmerman. So it looks like we can expect some further casting news into who is the co-lead of what Harari described as “a mix of realistic urban chronicle, fantasy film, investigation, melodrama and daydream.” Nicolas Anthomé, who was a producer on Onoda: 10,000 Nights in the Jungle (the Un Certain Regard opener) is backing the project. Perhaps Neon might want to team on the project?
Here is the graphic novel description translation: Paris, present day. David Zimmerman, in his thirties, is constantly on the edge of his life. He’s a photographer, but almost no one knows this, confined to weddings and bar mitzvahs. On the evening of December 31st, he lets himself be swept away by a huge party by his only friend, Harry, as exuberant as he is antisocial. Amid the crowd, his gaze is drawn to that of an enigmatic young brunette, whom he can’t help but follow… In the dead of night, his life is turned upside down. David wakes up… in the body of the stranger.
