Sony Pictures Classics Just Can’t Hide It; Almodovar’s “I’m So Excited” Makes it 8 Between Label & Helmer

Date:

In a no-brainer deal, SPC have grabbed all North American rights to Pedro Almodóvar’s next project which begins lensing next month. Curiously the pic known as “Los Amantes Pasajeros” with early/translated titles of “The Brief Lovers” and/or “Standby Lovers“, but now appears to now go by The Pointer Sister-esque, I’m So Excited.

Gist: With the almighty cast that includes: Javier Cámara, Cecilia Roth, Lola Dueñas, Raul Arévalo, Carlos Areces, Antonio de la Torre, Hugo Silva, Willy Toledo, Miguel Ángel Silvestre, Blanca Suárez, José Luis Torrijo, José María Yazpik, Laya Martí with special collaborations from Penélope Cruz, Antonio Banderas and Paz Vega, this is about a group of people on the brink of impending disaster.

Worth Noting: Of all the players involved, Cecilia Roth is the one with the longest history with Almodovar – appearing in his earlier films including his debut, 1980’s Pepi, Luci, Bom y otras chicas del montón. She would return to the fold for All About My Mother.

Do We Care?: We heart Pedro. Our Cannes Critic’s Panel thought his last picture, The Skin I Live In was the Best of Cannes 2011. We look forward to Cannes 2013 where this picture will have had many months of post production work.
