Why is it on the list?I remember how ticked off I was when George Sluizer remade The Vanishing into a Hollywood piece of junk. It left such a bad taste in my mouth that when filmmakers propose to remake their own film for English-speaking audiences. I’m figuring that if you factor in an oddball ensemble cast, the premise (which does seem to have been modified) and Géla Babluani manages to bottle the same, raw, insane energy of the original then we might find ourselves with a film not unlike the Herzog’s trippy Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call – New Orleans.

Release Date/Status?: A film festival premiere should be in the cards – perhaps Sitges?
