The Gist: This sees Ben Affleck play a corporate hotshot whose Porsche and six-figure salary vanish after he gets laid off. Kevin Costner plays his brother-in-law, a salt-of-the-earth drywall installer who gives him a construction job. Tommy Lee Jones plays a senior partner in the firm, a principled man who struggles with the greedy actions of his partners.….(more)

Why is it on the list?: Last year it was Heslov, this year it’s veteran indie producer John Wells trying his hand at feature film directing, and what an all-star team he’s got in front of and behind the camera (Roger Deakins). Could be the ideal or better companion film to Reitman’s Up in the Air.
Release Date/Status?: Huge Sundance premiere will be followed by a very quick purchase and what I imagine could be an October-ish release when economic used to be the subject of the day.
