Why is it on the list?: I'd strongly suggest for cinephiles to check out David Michôd's previous short film work, you'll get a sense of where Australian cinema is headed. The skilled helmer knows how to use his tool belt, and watching the trailer for Animal Kingdom is like melting chocolate for a fondue - you gain calories just from the visuals.
Release Date/Status?: Receiving it's world premiere in the World Dramatic Comp at Sundance, I'm thinking the big send out there will allow for it to be picked up for a guessing this will be the first title to sell. Look for a 2010 release via a company such as IFC Films.
