Leos Carax Currently Lensing “C’est pas moi” & Arnaud Desplechin Prepping “Spectateurs”

Date:

A small blurb in the Le film français profiling Charles Gillibert (and his prod company CG Cinéma) and the multi-faceted Les Films du Losange reveals that two major auteurs are working on projects that could easily be in the competition section mix for the Palme d’or next year.

The Mauvais Sang, Les Amants du Pont-Neuf and more recently Annette director Leos Carax will not wait a decade between projects — as he is currently in production and its titled C’est pas moi. Is this the same project that connected the filmmaker to Jennifer Lawrence?

Update: Chalk this up for Cannes alright but perhaps the sections not gunning for a Palme. From the official CG site: “This free format film is a self-portrait, which revisits more than 40 years of the author’s filmography and questions the major stations of his life, while capturing the political tremors of the time. Written in the first person, shot with the faithful team of the author, including the director of photography Caroline Champetier, this cut-up film thus allows Leos Carax to find some great figures of his work.”

Currently in pre-production, French confrere Arnaud Desplechin is set to begin shooting Spectateurs next month in the North of France (Lille). Set during the 1970s and 1980s, we don’t have a logline on this project either but its said to include movie theatres.

After launching several titles in Cannes last year, Gillibert saw the clapperboard slam this week on Kirill Serebrennikov’s The Disappearance of Josef Mengele.
