Interview: Benjamín Naishtat – Rojo

Date:

Selected for the Platform section competition at TIFF and San Sebastian (winner of the Silver Shell for Best Director, the Silver Shell for Best Actor, and Best Cinematography), Benjamín Naishtat pitches a red tent with the roll off your tongue Rojo – an nuanced, genre essay on a dark period of history in Argentina and featuring delicious performances from Dario Grandinetti and supporting player Alfredo Castro. My second time visiting the film, I met the filmmaker in Marrakech and got to discuss the conversation he wanted to have with the film, the political climate and where he might be headed with his next project, La Rose de Cobra?
