Interview: Lynne Ramsay – You Were Never Really Here | 2018 Marrakech Intl. Film Festival

Date:

Ranked at the top of my best films of 2018 list (still unpublished), with her fourth feature, Lynne Ramsay attained “film godz” status with the masterwork You Were Never Really Here. Hot off what was a quartet of Indie Spirit noms, Marrakech marked the end of my journalistic journey with the film having been floored by it back in Cannes 2017, having had a sit down with Lynne at Sundance in January, and then tying the bow back in December in Morocco. A bit under the weather but nonetheless in great spirits, as part of a round table convo we got to know a bit more about what could possibly be her next feature (an eco-thriller with time travel?), her special bond with Joaquin, and seeing that her fellow juror member was James Gray, I was wondering if they did any anecdotal comparisons between the two.
