Top 200 Most Anticipated Foreign Films of 2023: #35. Hirokazu Kore-eda’s Kaibutsu

Date:

Kaibutsu

Broker filmmaker Hirokazu Kore-eda has been in creative overdrive working on both a series (Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House) and what was an under-the-radar new project called Kaibutsu (aka Monster). We began the year with news that the brilliant Ryuichi Sakamoto boarded the project to write the score. Production took place last summer. Kawamura Genki produced the film.

Gist: Written by Sakamoto Yuji, details on the project are not available but we believe this includes some horror elements with a family dynamic.

Release Date/Prediction: Kore-eda would most likely return to Cannes right before a domestic release back at home.
