Top 100 Most Anticipated Foreign Films of 2021: #95. Michael Pearce’s Invasion

Date:

Invasion

UK’s Michael Pearce returns with his highly anticipated sophomore film Invasion, produced by Dimitri Doganis, Derrin Schlesinger and Piers Vellacott with cinematography from the stellar Benjamin Kracun, who also lensed Pearce’s excellent 2017 debut Beast (as well as recent releases Monsoon and Promising Young Woman). Pearce has assembled a formidable cast including Riz Ahmed, Rory Cochran, Misha Collins, Janina Gavankar and Octavia Spencer. Pearce competed in TIFF’s 2017 Platform program with Beast (which starred Jessie Buckley and Johnny Flynn), and nabbed him a BAFTA for Best Outstanding Debut.

Gist: Co-written by Joe Barton, Invasion is about a journey upon which two brothers embark with their father who is trying to protect them from an alien threat.

Release Date/Prediction: Currently in post-production, we anticipate Pearce may likely return to premiere at TIFF 2021 with this Amazon Studios release, potentially in the resumed Platform program.
