2017 Sundance Film Festival Predictions: Alex Rivera & Cristina Ibarra’s The Infiltrators

Date:

Wasn’t that long ago we were complaining about Sleep Dealer helmer Alex Rivera‘s lack of output. We found out midway this year that he and Cristina Ibarra have been cooking up a true inside job in The Infiltrators – a documentary that’ll blow the lid off an actual for profit industry we had no idea existed (there are 180 of them) and would be perfectly timed release for all this wall building chatter. Both the Tribeca and Sundance Institutes supported the project with coin, with Sundance folks giving the docu some post-production coin.

Gist: This tells the real – and surreal – story of a group of immigrants in America who got themselves apprehended by Border Patrol to ‘infiltrate’ secretive, for-profit detention centers, and to help other detained immigrants get free.

Production Co./Producers: Alex Rivera & Cristina Ibarra.

Prediction: U.S. Documentary Comp.

U.S. Distributor: Rights Available. TBD (domestic). TBD (international)
