Patti is my alter-ego“. – Geremy Jasper

A project that was nurtured via the various Sundance labs, Patti Cake$ played like gangbusters during its world premiere screening at the Eccles. Fox Searchlight who distributes the film on Friday, August 18th paid a hefty 10.5 million for the theatrical release rights to Geremy Jasper‘s feature debut. It would later play as the Directors’ Fortnight closing film in Cannes.

As you can tell by the applause, the film slayed the Park City folks and announced the arrival of first time actress Danielle Macdonald. Joining the very emotional Jasper on stage we find Macdonald, Bridget Everett, Siddharth Dhananjay, Mamoudou Athie and Cathy Moriarty. The first question during the Q&A is how he found his cast.
