There’ll be a whole load of people in the Club Zero camp as we learned via the Screen Daily folks that Limbo pairing Sidse Babett Knudsen and Amir El-Masry were cast alongside Mia Wasikowska in Jessica Hausner‘s next film (the trade also has a first look of the production) currently in production. The highly anticipated drama probably filled with a generous dose of malaise will undoubtably be earmarked for a Palme d’Or comp slot. Also added to the cast we find vets Elsa Zylberstein and Mathieu Demy. Production commenced the United Kingdom and will move Austria in early October.
Inspired by the 13th-century fable The Pied Piper of Hamelin, Club Zero is an intense psychological drama set in an elite school where a new teacher (Wasikowska) forms a strong bond with five of the students… which then takes a dangerous turn. Zylberstein and Demy play parents, alongside Amanda Lawrence, Sam Hoare, Keeley Forsyth, Lukas Turtur and Camilla Rutherford. The five young up-and-coming actors playing the students are Barker, Samuel D Anderson, Florence Baker, Ksenia Devriendt and Gwen Currant. We’ve had the pleasure to take in Hausner’s films in Cannes over the years – Little Joe was awarded Best Actress prize at the ’19 edition.
