Allegretto Kreutzer: Léa Seydoux & Catherine Deneuve Seek the Truth in ‘Gentle Monster’

Date:

Léa Seydoux will topline the much anticipated drama by Corsage (read review) helmer Marie Kreutzer. Deadline reports that production will begin anytime soon on Gentle Monster – and that Catherine Deneuve has also joined the previously announced Jella Haase and Laurence Rupp. If production runs smoothly enough, this could be ready for the Venice Film Festival as we prepare for a major 2026 for Seydoux who will likely be in a Cannes showcase for Arthur Harari’s L’inconnue. mk2 Films is the sales company onboard the project which is produced by Film AG’s Alexander Gehr and Johanna Scherz with Komplizen Film and Kazak Production.

Working with themes of trust, deception, love, and violence, this follows two women who shape their lives around men whose dark sides they prefer to ignore. Lucy loves Philip and after his burnout she even moved to the country with him and their son, even though this meant professional restrictions for her. Elsa, on the other hand, lives for her job as a special investigator in the police, but is kept on her toes by the responsibility for her demented father. Both build their lives around men whose dark sides they would rather not see.
