Honest Mistake: Samuel Theis’ Summons Valeria Bruni Tedeschi & Anaïs Demoustier for “Je le jure”

Date:

Anaïs in Love pairing Valeria Bruni Tedeschi and Anaïs Demoustier will once again be play partners in French filmmaker Samuel Theis‘ third feature film set to move into production this Spring. Among the CNC advance on receipts (via the Cineuropa folks), Je le jure (formerly known as Incendiaire and Voici le feu) also features Antoine Reinartz of BPM (Beats Per Minute) fame. Avenue B Productions’  Caroline Bonmarchand produces.

Thirty-something Marco moves forward in life without a compass. Employee of a recycling center in Forbach, in Lorraine, he finds comfort in alcohol. And a little with Madeleine, a mature woman with whom he secretly has a relationship. One day he is drawn by lot to be a jury member. He a little dropped, incapable of discernment for himself, will have to decide the life of a young arsonist, accused of manslaughter.

Our Nicholas Bell reviewed Theis’ last feature Softie back in ’21 – “Intriguing and provocative, it is the sort of coming-of-age narrative which would be impossible to fund or distribute in the English language for its blunt, but tasteful explorations of a child’s budding sexuality. Strong characterization and adept storytelling allow for an astounding level of authenticity even as it hews closely to a formula particularly well-utilized in French language cinema.”
