Blame it on the Rain: Guillaume Canet & Laetitia Dosch to Get Soaked for Just Philippot’s “Eau-forte”

Date:

Launching his feature filmmaking career with one of the buzz titles of the canceled 2020 Cannes edition (the Cannes Critics’ Week did highlight five features with a “2020 Semaine de la Critique” label), Just Philippot is quickly moving from The Swarm (which launched globally thanks to a Netflix deal) and  is setting up shop on his sophomore feature now titled Eau-forte. Based on his award-winning Sundance selected short Acide, we now find out that Guillaume Canet and Laetitia Dosch will topline the film. Cineuropa reported that this disaster sci-fi film received some coin from Belgium – Bonne Pioche in producing out of France with partner Umedia in Belgium. Production begins at the midway point in March and not unlike his debut film, this also feature a family and some young players.

Gist: In the middle of a heat wave, an ominous cloud appears and with it, a lethal acid rain. A separated family will have to come together to escape this plague ravaging the world.

Worth Noting: Philippot’s “Ses souffles” (2016) was shortlisted for a Cesar and his 2018 short “Acid” competed at Sundance and Clermont-Ferrand.
