Top 100 Most Anticipated Foreign Films of 2016: #58. Kasia Roslaniec’s Satan Said Dance

Date:

Satan Said Dance

Director: Kasia Roslaniec
Writer: Kasia Roslaniec

Polish director Kasia Roslaniec’s 2012 sophomore feature Baby Blues concerns teenage moms and their woeful inability to rightfully care for children in a comedy that’s both touching and a bit devious. She reunites with her wonderful lead from that film, Magdalena Berus for her next feature, Satan Said Dance (which also went by Math Sucks during its production, this time playing a late twentysomething trying to figure out what she wants as she balances three boyfriends.

Cast: Tygo Gernandt, Danuta Stenka, Moe Abbas, Magdalena Berus

Production Co.: Manana, Oak Motion Pictures

U.S. Distributor: Rights Available. TBD (domestic/international).

Release Date: Baby Blues premiered at TIFF 2012 but nabbed Roslaniec the Crystal Bear at the Berlinale’s Generation 14plus in 2013. A planned premiere in Poland is set for April, 2016, so a return to Berlin or a slot at Rotterdam would be its only chances at festival play beforehand.
