Top 100 Most Anticipated American Indie Films of 2018: #67. Michael Mayer’s The Seagull

Date:

The Seagull

He appeared on the film scene with A Home at the End of the World (2004) and Flicka (2006) and then….disappeared. A full time move towards stage work (Spring Awakening, American Idiot and Hedwig And The Angry Inch), Michael Mayer‘s The Seagull is his big return to the film medium. Production began a while back ago, and if it weren’t for a buzz worthy film acting perfs in other items for Annette Bening and Saoirse Ronan (Lady Bird), perhaps it would have dropped last year, but SPC who recently announced the acquisition of the title probably have a firm strategy in place.

Spotful & IONCINEMA.com

The movie adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s piece centers on the fading actress Irina Arkadina’s relationship with her son Konstantin, a failing playwright in love with a young actress ‘Nina,’ portrayed by Ronan. Corey Stoll, Elisabeth Moss, Brian Dennehy and Mare Winningham also star.

Release Date/Prediction: SPC might drop this in the fall.
