2022 Cinema Eye Honors: Fire of Love, The Territory & All That Breathes Lead Noms

Three bonafide hits from the 2022 online edition of the Sundance Film Festival will be feted at the top of the new year at the Cinema Eye Honors. Fire of Love and The Territory landed seven nominations apiece while All That Breathes (a Cannes winner) grabbed six nominations. All the Beauty and the Bloodshed and A Night of Knowing Nothing grabbed four a piece and Four Hours at the Capitol, Moonage Daydream, Navalny and Nothing Compares each got a trio of noms.

Of the Outstanding Nonfiction Feature category the overwhelming majority preemd in Sundance this year – All That Breathes, Fire of Love, Navalny and The Territory. All the Beauty and the Bloodshed was the Golden Lion winner in Venice this year and Payal Kapadia’s A Night of Knowing Nothing was actually a Directors’ Fortnight selection in 2021. The always alluring Heterodox category features Aftersun, Dry Ground Burning, Dos Estaciones, Marcel the Shell with Shoes On and yes television and The Rehearsal (Season One). The event takes place on January 12th at the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria.
