More croissant than cronut, Wes Anderson returns to the red, white and blue but of the Hotel Chevalier and Jacques Cousteau sort with a proper made in France production for his tenth feature film. Reported to be set in France after World War II, principal photography on The French Dispatch began in November 2018 in Angoulême, France, with an English speaking cast tossed together with French talents. Currently in production, Frances McDormand, Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Timothée Chalamet, Benicio del Toro, Mathieu Amalric, Jeffrey Wright, Léa Seydoux, Lois Smith and Saoirse Ronan are part of what will be intersecting storylines, cigarettes, zany characters in tres geek chic. Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, Henry Winkler, Willem Dafoe, Bob Balaban, Steve Park, Denis Ménochet, Lyna Khoudri, Kate Winslet, Alex Lawther, Vincent Macaigne, Vincent Lacoste, Félix Moati, Benjamin Lavernhe, Guillaume Gallienne, and Cécile de France were all added to the film last month.

Gist: This is described as “a love letter to journalists set at an outpost of an American newspaper in 20th-century Paris and centers on three storylines.

Release Date/Prediction: With no distribution in place (we expect that to change mid shoot announcement of Fox Searchlight landing the rights), Venice and a 2019 play date are a long shot, but technically not impossible.
