2017 Sundance Film Festival Predictions: Janicza Bravo’s Lemon

Date:

She’s been a botany of flourishingly unique pieces of art (we discovered her with her award-winning short) and the Sundance have been the lucky to promote this voice in short form (Gregory Go Boom – 2013) and VR form (Hard World for Small Things – 2016). Apologies to the field of 79 other predictions, but Lemon would be our number one most anticipated film in the currently unknown line-up. Starring a misfit line-up of co-writer Brett Gelman, Judy Greer, Nia Long, Fred Melamed, Shiri Appleby, Rhea Perlman, David Paymer, Gillian Jacobs, Megan Mullally, Martin Starr, Jeff Garlin, Marla Gibbs and reuniting with Michael Cera, Janicza Bravo wrapped up shooting this summer and with American indie pioneer Killer Films folks supporting her we get lemonade.

Gist: Written by Bravo and Gelman, this centers on Isaac Laachman (Gelman), an out-of-work actor who tries to stop his life from unraveling after he is left by his blind girlfriend (Greer).

Production Co./Producers: Burn Later’s Paul Bernon, Sam Slater and David Bernon (Results), Houston King (Computer Chess), Han West (Hard World for Small Things).

Prediction: NEXT section premiere.

U.S. Distributor: Rights Available. ICM Partners/UTA (domestic). TBD (international)
