Video: Hannah Fidell’s The Long Dumb Road | 2018 Sundance Film Festival

Date:

The road trip movie is probably the most tired sub-genre after the coming of age film, and yet with a fresh coat of paint perspective the four wheels and the open road can be fruitful especially here under the guise of comedy. One of the last films to get programmed into the festival in a Premieres category showcase, via a pair of tandems in screenwriting duo Hannah Fidell and Caron Mell along with the tag-team of Jason Mantzoukas and Tony Revolori, The Long Dumb Road does pit-stops in a complex red and blue America, and feels especially loose sans particular agenda. Easily one of the more eventful audience going gaga post-screenings equipped with air guns and Mantzoukas in open mic schtick mode, in her early career, this is Fidell’s best.
