Flying low on everyone’s radar, Stéphane Brizé quietly filmed his eleventh feature film this past May and the Cineuropa folks confirm that the project is now in the can. Re-teaming with Alba Rohrwacher and Vincent Lindon, Un Bon Petit Soldat (A Good Little Soldier) will be headed towards a major film festival premiere next year – with a legit shot at Cannes (were Brizé competed twice before). Brizé’s Hors Saison (read ★★★★ review) which was the last feature to be showcased in the Venice Film Festival Golden Lion competition – unfortunately it didn’t play well for critics and oddly never found distribution in North America. Sharif Andoura, David Talbot also joined the project which again sees the filmmaker work with non-professional actors. Antoine Héberlé is the cinematographer here.
Written by Stéphane Brizé, Coralie Amédéo and Olivier Gorce, this is about a newly hired in the HR department of a large insurance company, Carla is in charge of an ambitious campaign to rebuild the employer brand. Driven by the idea of reconciling employee well-being with the company’s performance goals, Carla moves forward on an increasingly thin line, until compromises become inevitable.
