Jumper: Trailer

See the trailer below.

Based on the Steven Gould novel, adapted by David Goyer with rewrites from Jim Uhls and Simon Kinberg, this is planned as a trilogy. This follows a young man from a broken home who discovers that he has the ability to teleport. In his quest for the man he believes is responsible for the death of his mother, the kid draws the attention of the National Security Agency and another youth with the same abilities. Christensen will play the young man who can teleport. Jackson plays an NSA agent, while Bell is the jumper who shows Christensen the ropes. Bilson will play the love interest.

Wow- looks like 20th Century Fox put some serious green into this one.

Overall- Jumper looks like it could be quite a cool little sci-fi adventure. Hayden Christensen is definitely not one of my favorite actors, but he looks like a decent choice for a film like this. Interestingly- the studio originally cast two different actors in the leading roles now played by Christensen and Rachel Bilson. They were replaced when it was decided to make the leading characters in their twenties, rather than their teens.

I always liked Rachel Bilson on The O.C (yes I liked The O.C- so friggin' sue me- the first two seasons were awesome), and seeing her in a leading role in a big film like this is great. Jamie Bell is another solid young actor. Judging from the trailer he looks like the villain of the piece. The only danger with casting Bell is that he might mercilessly upstage Christensen.

Samuel L. Jackson is only for the ride, playing what looks like a wizened mentor -ish character. I'm sure he'll acquit himself nicely- but his snow white hairpiece is unintentionally hilarious.

If Fox really is looking to launch a trilogy with this film- they picked the right director with Doug Liman. He's already launched one awesome franchise with The Bourne Identity (although I personally hated his last film- Mr. and Mrs. Smith).

Review: Spring Fever

Review: Spring Fever

A heavily flawed film that does a disservice to its quintet of characters by abruptly ending each character's final chapter before it even begins making Spring Fever a film that never manages to find itself. Audiences who've followed his past efforts such as Purple Butterfly and Summer Palace will be puzzled by erotica without reason, by the undefined terms in which the characters are set in and the lack of dramatic focus.

Interview: Amir Bar-Lev (The Tillman Story)

Pat has a very wide appeal and people who admire him come from different parts of ideological spectrum. So we didn't want to alienate a part of our audience because the film is about Pat more than anything. So we wanted to invite everybody to the dialogue of what actually happened to him and the country at the time.
