Live from Cannes: 2022 Cannes Critics’ Panel – Meet the Jury!

Date:

Last year’s behemoth two dozen title competition saw Julia Ducournau’s Titane take the top honors landing the Palme d’Or but our jury of twenty film critics from around the world would have prized Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s Drive My Car instead. We’d like to thank our media partner friends at Mubi are supporting our work here with our Cannes Critics’ Panel … our tenth edition!

Among the twenty-one films competing for the Palme d’Or this year we find Holy Spider by Ali Abbasi, Forever Young by Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, Crimes of the Future by David Cronenberg, Tori et Lokita by Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne, Stars At Noon by Claire Denis, Brother and Sister by Arnaud Desplechin, Close by Lukas Dhont, Armageddon Time by James Gray, Broker by Kore-Eda Hirokazu, Nostalgia by Mario Martone, R.M.N. by Cristian Mungiu, Triangle of Sadness by Ruben Östlund, Decision to Leave by Park Chan-Wook, Showing Up by Kelly Reichardt, Leila’s Brothers by Saeed Roustaee, Boy from Heaven by Tarik Saleh, Tchaïkovski’s Wife by Kirill Serebrennikov, Pacifiction by Albert Serra, Mother and Son by Léonor Serraille, EO by Jerzy Skolimowski and finally, The Eight Mountains by Charlotte Vandermeersch and Felix Van Groeningen.

Generally there are two competition film premieres per day and as per usual we update the grid in real time — so you’ll want to come back daily to see how our jury assesses the Class of 2022. With travel back to a new normal we find some returning critics from previous years among our group of 20. Here they are below.
