2022 European Film Awards: Alcarràs, Close, Triangle of Sadness, Corsage & Holy Spider on 30 Short List

It’s that time of year again where Euro titles from Venice of the previous year duke it out with Euro Cannes film productions of the current year. Add some winners and faves from (mostly) Sundance and Berlin and we’ve got the first short list of the The European Film Awards. This year the ceremony takes place on December 10th in Reykjavík, Iceland, and of the 30 mentioned today, the next wave will dwindle down to half the offerings. Th first official screening must have taken place between June 1st 2021 and May 31st and have a European director. Last year the big winner was Quo Vadis, Aida?. Of the big titles we find in the first wave we got the Berlinale winner Alcarràs, the Palme d’Or winner Triangle of Sadness and Marie Kreutzer’s Corsage which certainly feels like a shoe-in for Best Actress.
